Winter Solstice 2019

Dear, Sparkling and Beautiful Children of the Earth,

Winter Solstice is here!  We’ve made it to the longest night of the year and now the days are going to get longer.  Throughout human history, this time of year has been marked with rejoicing at the return of the Sun.  Bonfires, feasts, celebrations of joyful connections with friends and family all mark this renewal

Summer Solstice (Litha) 2019 June 21st 10:54 am CDT

Dear, Rooted and Rock-Steady Children of the Earth,

Summer Solstice is here! The Pagan holiday of Litha is being celebrated! It's the magical "Mid-Summer's Night" when the days are long, slow and full of an abundance of Sun.  Nights are warm and full of breezes and Moonlight. This is a time for all of us to remember the Earth, our Bodies, and the joy of stretching out.

Autumnal Equinox (Mabon) Saturday, September 22, 2018 9:54 pm Eastern Time

Dear, Awakening, and Compassionate Children of the Earth,

The Autumnal Equinox is happening! Day and Night are balancing. We can feel the Wheel of the Year turning: the light is different, the sun sets earlier, geese are beginning to head south.  It’s time to take a little break from all our hard work, to celebrate and share the fruits of our labors.  It’s Harvest Time!

Winter Solstice, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:28 am CST

Dear, Darling and Much-loved Children of the Earth,...

Happy Winter Solstice! It's time to celebrate the birth of the Sun!
Just when it seemed nights would continue to lengthen, The Wheel of the Year turns and we find ourselves facing... more Light!

We may not notice it at first--we may assume that the nights are just going to get longer as we head into the "dead of winter". But the opposite is true. The day after Solstice, our day is minutes longer and keeps lengthening till we get to Mid-Summer.

Vernal Equinox-Tuesday, March 20, 2018 12:15pm EST

Cherry blossoms, close-upDear, Sustainable and Ever-Renewing Children of the Earth,

Happy Spring!  The Vernal Equinox has arrived!  Three months after the Winter Solstice, we say goodby to old man winter and hello to the newborn Spring.

Equinox is the time when Day and Night are of equal length.  In the northern hemisphere, Day will increase for the next three months until Summer Solstice gives us the full warmth of our Sun.
